Animating with Grief

About the workshop: In Animating with Grief, led by Christie Widiarto, you will learn how to use the creative outlet of animation to tell your story, and express your feelings, while having fun with others. No animation experience necessary.

About the facilitating artist: Christie Widiarto is a Melbourne-based artist who produces multimedia works including animation, projection, installation and street art. She has a Masters by Coursework in Fine Art (Film and Television) and a Masters by Research (Community Cultural Development) at the VCA, Melbourne University. Christie is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the connection between animation and grief.

Her work reflects her Chinese Indonesian background and her love of nature and storytelling. Her projects have been presented at the One Night in Footscray event 2019, Nillumbik Digital Agora 2019, West Projections Festival 2014 and 2016. She has received funding from Maribyrnong City Council, Nillumbik City Council, Melbourne City Council, Creative Victoria and the Australia Council for the Arts.
