Learn to explore grief and loss through a mix of reflective and creative writing prompts in these 90 minute workshops. No creative writing experience necessary and sharing your work is optional.
Gently guided by Gabriela Georges (founder of The Grief Cocoon), Writing through Grief is an intimate writing workshop that can help you develop emotional self-awareness and insight, learn how to express and process grief through writing, and connect with others who are grieving.

The Grief Cocoon Open Mic (Supporting Dying to Know Day)
Our annual open mic is back on Sunday the 13th of August in support of Dying to Know Day.
It's an intimate open mic to share and listen to stories on grief, loss, death and life. Bring a story, a song, a poem to share, or simply a listening ear.
This is for you if you're grieving and would like to::
make space and time to acknowledge your grief
meet others who want to do the same
have people hear your story, or that of a loved one
support others by listening to their stories
have a better understanding of grief and how it impacts people's lives
Afternoon tea is included.

Writing Through Climate Grief
In partnership with LJAC, These weekly writing workshops will enable you to explore and process grief related to climate change/crisis. Inspired by the work of others, you will articulate call to action, harness hope, grow collective empathy and connect with peers. No creative writing experience necessary.
The Louis Joel Arts and Community aim to present outcomes of these workshops in print and spoken form in their Summer Program February 2023.
